Registered Nurse Emergency Room (Full Time) (Nights) - Emergency Department

Stephens Memorial Hospital is hiring for a Full Time Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department.

Summary of responsibilities:
Provides optimal nursing care that meets the needs of the client through regular and ongoing surveillance of the quality and appropriateness of nursing practices and functions. Surveys staffing schedules in advance to assure sufficient qualified nursing staff are on duty to meet client needs according to patient classification when in the relief charge position. Promotes and assists with the nursing process as established by the Nursing Department. Provides a working environment that will stimulate and facilitate greater employee achievement by assuring that staff development is ongoing and appropriate. Promotes positive interdisciplinary relationships by working cooperatively with other departments of the hospital as specified by the health system organizational plan. Possesses a thorough knowledge of Stephens Memorial Hospital standards. Participates in Performance improvement activities. Functions as relief charge nurse as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:
Ability to direct emergency procedures, as well as assisting all units with routine nursing care, admissions and dismissals when necessary. Ability to demonstrate professional skills with critical thinking. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Maintains a current license with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. A minimum of six months in emergency room setting. Current card for the successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR-Healthcare Provider) within 6 months of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within two years of hire.

Working conditions
- Standing or sitting for long periods of time
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis
-Push and pull up to 150 pounds on an occasional basis
-Occasional kneeling, bending, reaching and twisting will be required
- Working on moderate to high stress levels at intervals.
