Clinic Receptionist/ Patient Service Representative - Breckenridge Medical Center
SMH is seeking a Full-Time Receptionist for the Breckenridge Medical Center.

Position Summary
The Patient Service Rep. (Receptionist) is responsible for creating a positive experience to patients and visitors of Breckenridge Medical Center and ensures the highest level of customer service is provided. Other responsibilities include ensuring all activities affecting patient and billing are accurate, timely and fully documented. The Patient Service Rep also performs general office duties to ensure clinic front office activities are efficiently administered and coordinated.

Essential Duties
Patient Services
1.Answers incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner, promptly responding to requests/ inquiries, taking messages when appropriate , or directing calls for clinical personnel
2.Greets and assists patients and visitors in a welcoming and helpful manner
3.Performs patient check-in and ensures all appropriate personal, financial and insurance information is obtained and recorded accurately in the correct location in the Electronic Health Record system
4.Ensures the patient check in process is efficient and all clinic and regulatory policies are in compliance
5.Obtains accurate patient and insurance information, collects copays, self-payments, and/or co-insurance and deductible amounts as applicable
6.Conducts all functions associated with patient check-out including pricing services, collecting patient responsibility payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments
7.Explains insurance requirements to patients/families and tracks completion making follow up as needed
8.Contacts insurance carriers to confirm coverage, verify benefits, and obtain authorization/pre-certification to ensure reimbursement
9.Confirms next day appointments and alerts patients as to what documentation is needed, including details associated with time-of-service payment
10.Follows up with patients regarding upcoming appointments, annual screenings or missed appointments
11.Update applicable patient records as requested by patients such as demographics, authorizations, consent for treatment, and insurance information
12.Receive and route messages or documents such as specialist consult notes, lab results, radiology and send to appropriate personnel
13.Retrieves and Scans lab, x-ray, EKG, CT and MRI reports into patient charts
14.Arranges patient appointments for the medical staff according to established guidelines
15.Initiates correspondence for patients as instructed by providers (i.e. meals on wheels, service animals, or other accommodations)
16.Documents all patient notes as appropriate in EHR in an accurate, thorough and timely manner
17.Maintains patient forms, makes revisions and distributes to patients as directed by supervisor
General Office Duties
1.Performs general clerical duties as appropriate including but not limited to data entry, photocopying, preparing and submitting records or reports to appropriate parties following HIPAA guidelines
2.Opens / Sorts incoming mail, ensuring that urgent correspondence and time dated material is prioritized
3.Prepares and delivers the Daily Business Summary before close of the day
4.Maintain inventory of office supplies and orders as needed
5.Supervises the maintenance and housekeeping of office areas and ensures reception area is neat and clean
6.Participates in educational programs, Quality Improvement programs, and in-service meetings
7.Communicates effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments
8.Adheres to all personnel policies and procedures set forth by Stephens Memorial Hospital District.
9.Other duties as assigned by Clinic Supervisor, Practice Administrator or Chief Executive Officer

Position Requirements
•High School Diploma or Equivalent
•Previous experience in Medical Office Clinic setting preferred
•Experience with Electronic Health Record Systems preferred
•Ability to use office equipment (fax machine, computer, copier, telephone, etc.)
•Bilingual Preferred
